The “Karvountzis” Mansion

The “Karvountzis” Mansion is a cheerful restored traditional stone building from the year 1890, in the village of Kryoneri in the Korinthian region.
The mansion stands timeless, next to the green valey of the Elisson river, known since the ancient Greek period, on the traditional environmental footpath of the Lower Fountain of Kryoneri (restored by the local Municipality, with support of the European agri-tourism Programme LEADER+).

The mansion was built from skilled craftsmen from the northern Greek town Kozani on behalf of the Karvountzis family. The workers took the stones from the Elisson river valley and converted them into a two-floors-mansion, oriented to the South, with its veranda and surounded by the courtyard with its tall cool walnuts. The 1st floor supports still the “river”, as locals call the enormous trunke plane tree, that was placed in all old stone houses of the mountainous Korinthia and Peloponnese region.

The authentic traditional fireplace still warms the livingroom and the open kitchen on the ground floor. The wooden inner scale leads to the 1st floor and to the sunny bedrooms, with wooden roof, luminous windows and the veranda, which looks above the river valley and the village, that climbs panoramic in the mountain.
The mansion can host up to 6 individuals.
